Al Poplawsky –
I recently got the “gloss orange” helmet. This is the first helmet I have had with the increased head coverage over the standard helmet design. This is a very high quality item and well worth the increased cost over the standard varieties. For example, the hard shell extends over the lower lip of the foam core and protects it from damage. Also, the shell is much thicker and more substantial than that of standard helmets. The chinstrap also has a protective cloth to prevent you from snapping your chin skin in the buckle. I have five non-motorized bikes and bike an average of over 100 miles/week weather permitting. This morning I rode in the snow on my 3 mile commute and my head felt wonderfully dry, warm and secure. The open/close vents are a wonderful feature, and really keep this helmet dry and warm. Even with the vents open it is a warm helmet, thus I will not be using it in the heat of the summer, but it is ideal for cool/cold weather riding. The increased coverage of your head is very noticeable when riding, and you feel like you are surrounded by this secure orange glow. The only caveat I have is that although there are instructions for removal of the safety light, there is no description of battery replacement. This makes me wonder if the light battery is replaceable?
Serfas –
Al, Thank you for your feedback! We’re happy to hear how well the Kilowatt has been performing for you. Also, we appreciate you bringing to our attention the absence of documentation pertaining to changing the battery, we confirm the helmet light does in fact take a user replaceable CR2032 battery accessible by a couple screws after you pop the light out from the helmet. Thank you again and we hope you continue to enjoy your Serfas gear! – The Serfas Team
